Description
Santolina chamaecyparissus, also known as Lavender Cotton or Gray Santolina, is an ornamental herb which may be used as an insect repellent in sachets. It has a pungent, medicinal scent. In summer it produces tiny yellow flowers. This blue foliaged herb is frequently used in knot gardens; they are easy to trim and maintain in compact hedges. Infrequently trimmed, they mingle gently with surrounding plants, as is shown in this image.
