Artist's Description
The ladies in my series, "A Secret Garden", are allegories, personifications of feminine affect, emotion, stages of life. They are fairies, goddesses, nymphs, dryads, naiads, princesses. They are mature women and little girls. Each is an aspect of everywoman personified. They are also explorations of self. The process as well as the final products are a rejoicing, embracing, and revelry in femininity. I combine public domain images from the late 1800s and early 1900s with my own photographs and manipulate color and texture to create the finished work. "A Kiss Before Sunset" was the first in the series.
About Rebecca Sherman
Raised in Southern Maryland, Rebecca has an innate love of the rural environment, and her macro and landscape photography brings that emotion to life.
