Description
Three butterflies on purple blooming thistle flowers.
"Pleasure is spread through the earth; In stray gifts to be claimed by whoever shall find."
~William Wordsworth, 1806
The thorny bull thistle is symbolic of austerity in Victorian flower language. Butterflies photographed include the yellow and black forms of eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly, and a little common buckeye.
